The Story So Far...
Misha Fair is a storyteller with a Southern soul — a country artist shaped by a deep musical legacy and a voice all her own.
With expressive lyrics and classic country vocals, Misha has been turning heads through her heartfelt songwriting and dynamic live performances. Her sound blends the raw truth of Americana with the soul of R&B and the emotional pull of ‘90s alternative — making her music feel both familiar and fresh.
Born in Atlanta and now based in North Carolina, Misha comes from a powerhouse musical family. Her grandfather, Chuck Willis, was a groundbreaking R&B songwriter known as the “King of the Stroll,” while her other grandfather, Paul Mitchell, led the acclaimed Paul Mitchell Trio. Her parents, both members of the legendary S.O.S. Band, gave her a front-row seat to the music industry from an early age — growing up around icons like Jimmy Jam & Terry Lewis and Isaac Hayes, often in the same studios they worked in.
While other kids brought dolls to Show-and-Tell, Misha brought her dad — fresh off tour — and members of the S.O.S. Band in full stage costume. By the time she could talk, she was singing Dolly Parton, Patsy Cline, and LeAnn Rimes, earning a reputation as the “little girl with the big voice.”
Trained classically in voice, Misha pursued opera, jazz, and country throughout her school years, eventually earning a vocal scholarship to college where she also studied linguistics — becoming one of the few country artists fluent in multiple languages.
A chance meeting with Janelle Monáe in 2008 led to an internship at Wondaland Arts Society, where Misha cut her teeth behind the scenes on early creative projects. Since then, she’s written and collaborated with artists like Blanco Brown, Breland, Demun Jones, and Yelawolf, carving out a voice that’s bold, soulful, and unmistakably hers.
Now stepping into the spotlight with her own solo work — including the raw, confessional single "BEG" — Misha is staking her claim in today’s alt-country scene.
“I’m just a Southern girl who fell in love with everything great about country music,” she says. “My songs have been deep-fried in folk, gospel, and bluegrass — and are best served with a side of rhythm and blues, and rock and roll.”
